The Chevy Corvette is a standout because it’s an iconic American sports car that mixes power with sleek design. It’s been around since 1953, constantly improving while staying true to its fast, fun roots. More than just a car, the Corvette is a symbol of American car culture and the excitement of driving. It’s a dream car for many because it delivers speed, style, and a sense of freedom.
The LEGO Icons Corvette Classic kit is a detailed replica of the 1961 version. With over 1,200 pieces, and measuring over 12 inches long and 5.5 inches wide, it’s packed with authentic features like the curved bodywork, working steering, and realistic interior (complete with pedals, shifter, and window cranks), capturing the classic car’s retro style. Check out the motor under the hood.
Notice easter eggs like the antenna, a repurposed LEGO sword; and parts of the front design, which are recolored LEGO sausages and bananas. Although some pieces, like the exterior side panels, and front windshield, contain some new elements that were designed exclusively for this set.
You can pick between the open-top or hard-top style, and there are even a few different license plate options (showroom version, a Michigan plate to honor the home of General Motors, and a California plate C1 1961 – the model name and release year of the car.)
The high-quality instruction booklet is detailed and easy-to-follow, and includes some interesting factoids about the car and how the LEGO kit itself was designed. All in all, it’s a fun, hands-on project for car lovers and LEGO enthusiasts alike, combining nostalgia with creativity in one awesome build!
I built this in two sittings, and it probably took about an hour and a half total. At the time of this video it is still available for sale at most major retailers for under $150, I waited for a 30% off deal that made it $105, or about 8 and a half cents per piece, although it is expected to be retired later this year – so move fast if you want it!
