Did you know? The first record of a water gun, or “squirt gun” as it was called, was during the Civil War; although the first water gun patent was issued to Russell Parker in 1896. From the 1930s until the 1970s, few changers were made to the basic water gun design. However, in 1977 an air-pressure-activated water rifle hit the market, paving the way for the release of the Super Soaker in 1990.
