Dr. Seuss is widely regarded as one of the preeminent children’s writers. His stories are universally accessible for children of almost all ages and backgrounds. Furthermore, the morals demonstrated by the stories and characters are thought-provoking for young minds. But most importantly, Dr. Seuss books are entertaining and engaging, holding kids attention and encouraging them to continue on the path of learning and reading.
But what about times when you can’t read? For example, some kids get horrible nauseau and carsicknesss when they try to read in a moving vehicle. This is where audiobooks are a perfect solution. Kids can still enjoy the magic of Dr. Seuss stories on long car rides and family trips.
Dr. Seuss’ iconic rhyming scheme lends itself perfectly to an audio book format, and encourages kids to utilize their imagination more than other in-vehicle activities. It’s better than sitting them in front of Spongebob, after all! Moreover, it’s a car activity that won’t drive parents nuts; in fact, it’s usually downright nostalgic. Who wouldn’t want to listen to Fox on Sox as read by David Hyde Pierce, or The Cat in the Hat as read by Kelsey Grammer (the actors who play Niles and Frasier in the hit show Frasier!).

Did you know? Theodore Seuss “Ted” Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss, was not just a writer, he was also at times known as a political cartoonist, animator, book publisher, artist, and poet. He was born in 1904 and his work ultimately went on to
sell more than six hundred million copies and as subsequently translated into greater than twenty languages before he died. He went to the University of Oxford and worked for Vanity Fair, Life, and an an advertising illustrator for the likes of Standars Oil. His March 2 birthday is now known as National Read Across America Day, an initiative which was formed by the National Education Association. “Doctor” Seuss was not actually a doctor of anything throughout most of his proliferation, although he was ultimately granted an honorary doctorate in 1956 by his alma mater, Dartmouth. We hope you enjoy Ted’s… er, Dr Seuss’s best audiobooks.
